A blog for a craftsman, is it useful?

At a time of massive use of social networks, some people wonder if a blog is really useful?

When we talk about the blog, we often think of something old-fashioned, not very topical. Yet blogging remains a formidable weapon to get quality traffic to your website.

I've always heard that. Besides, I started late and that's already what we were saying at the time. Blogging certainly doesn't have the popularity of social media today, but it's still a staple. For me, a blog is a privileged and more relaxed place where you can share in a unique way. On social networks, there are too many side signals that disrupt concentration. It goes fast, (too fast sometimes) and we can't share technical content in depth. Today, after a long process (I started in 2011), I have traffic of about 400,000 visitors per month, made up of individuals looking for information on the work but also of beginner professional electricians and confirmed who are interested in the tooling part.

SEO (blogging) is often opposed to paid advertising and craftsmen tend to go for the fastest solution (advertising). What do you think are the advantages of SEO?

Clearly, the big advantage is that SEO doesn't cost anything once it's done. But this is not totally true since there is upstream work that costs a lot since it takes a lot of time before "ranking" on the web.

The developers will officially launch Nova City Islamabad with its complete greatness once the NOC is approved.

What advice would you give to artisans who want to get into blogging?

First and foremost, you have to know that to talk and discuss a job you have to be passionate about it. In my opinion, this is the most important before the expertise. Many people think that when you are an expert in a field, you can start a blog. But when it comes to writing an article of several hundred (or even thousands) words, in addition to being a teacher, you have to make your heart speak a minimum. The second thing is that you have to be (very) patient. Indeed, results do not come overnight. For my part, I waited at least 2-3 years to have concrete results in my activity. Then, you have to be original. Too often I see sites without particular contributions or even copies (I have experienced it) without originality. There is room for everyone on the web, but we can do other than by copying, especially since it ends up being visible! I also think that it should also be done in a spirit of sharing and with pedagogy. Knowledge must be transmitted. Finally, even with all the goodwill in the world, we should not believe that blogging is such an easy field. You need to have multiple skills: SEO, IT for the hosting and maintenance of the site, and quality of writing.

Do you want to add something for the building contractors who read us?

The current crisis that we are going through is a good time to embark on the adventure. If you don't know anything about it and think blogging isn't for you, there are other ways. Social networks, the creation of a showcase website are all solutions to be implemented. Specialists can also advise and help you on the subject, but you have to

choose them well because, in the jungle of service providers, it's like with craftsmen, there is good but also bad!
